Hello dear friends!
It's been some time since I've written as I've been posting so many projects lately!
As most of you know I'm a graphic designer and have been for many years and in the last few months I've experienced a designers worst nightmare; which is watching your computer die in front of you! Fortunately mine's not completely gone yet, but at seven years old each time open my screen the backlight will flicker while I hold my breath mumbling "c'mon, c'mon..." like someone would as they jimmied a key in an old truck! I've got the dreaded "blue lines" in my screen as backlights have died out and it's getting to the point where I'm expecting the little guy to go at any minute. It's come to the point that replacing the dying parts would cost more than the computer is even worth anymore; the soul definition of the dreaded word 'totaled'.
On another note, and frankly a more important note, I've been doing graphic design, photography, and any other computer work from a laptop for the last eight years of my life and as a result have developed a nasty bout of carpal tunnel in my right arm as well as forward head posture sydrome (otherwise becoming popularly known as 'text neck') due to my head looking down to work, and my wrists being turned in to fit on a laptop keyboard. I was all but ordered to ditch the laptop and purchase a desktop computer if I wanted to be able to continue my career in graphic design. Yikes! Because I don't have an extra thousand dollars lying around to get the iMac that is necessary for my line of work, I of course put it off.
But now my vintage Macbook is on it's last leg and I decided I needed to begin preparing for what I would do next...The money is still not there and so I knew I would need to get creative about saving up for the new computer...This is where, should you wish to, you could lend a helping hand and bless me immensely.
My computer is the portal to you, it's how I create the graphics and the pretty lists and labels thousands of you have downloaded free of charge, and of course it's how I make a living! Since really none of us have the kind of money to spend on one of these bad boys I never felt right about asking for one for my birthday or Christmas...but suddenly it hit me...even the smallest amount from a certain number of friends, family, and even readers, could make this happen.
Let me be clear, the last thing I want to do is give the appearance of some annoying lady on your doorstep with some spiel about generosity that leads to no other conclusion except for you handing over your hard earned money...so I'm not going to try and do that at all, I'm simply going to say what follows:
Your gift of even a dollar, would bless me tremendously. There are certainly needs out there far greater than my own of needing a swanky computer in order to fulfill my job as a designer-and should you feel lead to contribute funds to them, please do! But on the same note...pray on it, and if your interested, drop a few coins in my bucket...you truly have no idea how much of a blessing it would be.
If not, you all are still just as much of a gift to me. I have been amazed time and time again by the comments and emails you send me on a daily basis. Your stories have comforted me, your enthusiasm for serving the Lord encourages me, and the fact that you even come back a second time to my little nook in cyberspace absolutely humbles me...Regardless of the way you chose to respond to this idea, I thank you for your overwhelming support!
